Yarrr!

To start my day I first took use of the onsen, and then my ryokan’s traditional Japanese breakfast.

I know very little about what was in that box.

Hakone is a small town in the mountains, somewhat still near Tokyo. Extremely hilly and removed from the din and the noise of the capital city. I had opted to buy the Hakone Free Pass which got me not only into town, but also access onto several other attractions. The ones I took advantage of were the Hakone Ropeway - a series of gondolas that first goes up onto the caldera of the volcano that drives the geothermic activity, and then down into Lake Ashi, where I got on…a pirate ship.
