Kamakura

Today was a bit of a weird one. The whole trip I’d resisted going full tourist, of getting on a guided bus tour, but I had opted to take this tour to Kamakura and Enoshima. It was a good day, but it was a lot of time on the bus, going to and from Kamakura to the South West of Tokyo.

We saw a couple of Buddhist temples, including a giant statue of Buddha, more than 11 meters tall, that apparently was the only part of the temple to survive a tsunami in 1498.

Enoshima is a small little island near Kamakura, kind of a beach resort situation.

Once back in Tokyo, I knocked off the last of the shopping I expect to do. Now all that remains is tomorrow to play Tetris to pack, and then consider filling any voids. I also found a bar near the Kanda station that’s got a ton of Japanese craft beers, so that was a bonus.

One day left in Japan, then back to what seems to be sizable quantities of snow.

Oh! I also got to impress some school kids with what Japanese I know. That just means they were kind enough to lie to me, or their expectations are really low.
