End of the Line
As my penultimate day in Japan, and the last full day to explore the city I found myself going back to some of the areas I went to early.
My day started with a guided tour of the Tsukiji Outer Market, this time with someone pointing out the best booths to hit, followed by a cooking class where we made miso soup and sushi. Kenichi or Matsuhisa probably won’t be encouraging a career change out of me any time soon, but it was a lot of fun.
After that I went back to the hotel to start packing and to get an idea about where I stood on room in my luggage. That sorted, I went back to Tsukiji for a bit of shopping before the stores closed, and a “professional” sushi meal from one of the big names in Japanese sushi. It had been threatening to rain all day, and it finally made good on that threat at that point.
I then trained out to Shibuya to grab some last minute chocolates and to visit the Nintendo store. From there I went back to visit Shinjuku, where I visited a friend, and I grabbed some yakatori and sake from an Izakaya Omoide Yokocho.
I capped off the night back at the craft beer joint I found yesterday, when I finish this post I will wrap things up with another soak in the bath house.
Tomorrow…back to the grind, and starting to prep for the next trip. Which, for the record, I have NO idea what that is going to be.
