Last Day in Kyoto

After yesterday in Osake, I had one day left in Kyoto before I head to Nikko for the back corner leg of this relay.

My original plans of hitting museums was derailed by the fact that today is “Culture Day” in Japan, a sort of federal holiday. A lot of schools apparently were out for the day, or they were in museums.

Instead, I went to a couple of things that popped up on Google Maps South of my hotel, and just kind of hoped from one thing to the next. Then, I made it a point to head back to Yakasa, as I saw they were setting up for some sort of event there for today.

The Shinto Shrine was much more packed then it had been before. There definitely was something. I have no idea what it was, but it was there.

Then, in the afternoon, I had a “begginer’s sake tasting class" and after that I took the subway back to Gion, took one last through Pontocho, grabbed a drink at the bar I found, and called it night to get packed up.
