Finely Coordinated Urban Chaos
Today was a big one. The fitbit is saying 34k+ steps, and I’m feeling it. I started out in Harajuku to see the Meiji Shrine, then went over to the famed Shibuya Scramble, and a bit of scoping out the rows of shops. Going to have to hit both prefects again, but for the other things they offer.
After that I went to Yanaka for the “Old Tokyo Walking Tour” where we did just that. Lots of Buddhist temples and Shinto shrines. a massive…sigh…cemetery, and a huge park.
When the tour group broke up, I hit into the Ameyeko shopping street. Another densely packed area full of stores and restaurants. Found a ramen joint that was fantastic, and then went to Akihabara, the “electric town.” Toured a seven story electronics store, played, and managed to win at a crane game, then found a craft beer bar before heading back to the hotel.
Grave of the last shogun of Tokyo/Edo

Oh, and there is a big clock that was designed by Miyazaki right outside my hotel and I finally caught one of the activations.
