Allez Les Bleus
Another early start. Should have been earlier, last night’s late crash time had me running a little late. Still, I made it to the Hotel Des Invalides to see all the men’s marathon runners pass by near the finish line. The weather wasn’t too hot, but from what I could tell, the course was brutal, lot of inclines.
As it turned out, the Ethiopian who won the race set an Olympic record, which might explain why the pack was so strung out, they had their legs run off of them.
After the race, I wandered around the Invalides area of Paris for a bit, found a patisserie for a sandwich and croissant(s). Then I headed over to Jardin de Tuileries to try and see the torch at rest, but there wasn’t really a good place to do that.
So, long trip back out to Stad de France for another night of Athletics, the last night of the games on the track, so everything was finals.
Women’s javelin, men’s high jump, women’s 1500, men’s 5000 (god damn did they make me feel slow), women’s 110m hurdles, and men & women’s 4x400. This was so much fun, these. Made me miss the relays so much. That said, I may have abused the sport feature on my camera.
More to come, but it’s getting late. note - picture ID 3900 end point
